DEAD HALOS
Dead Halos is the emergent solo project of Durham, NC musician and engineer Todd Warner. Ruminating in the underworld and baring the darker art of Warner’s past, Dead Halos’ s/t EP routes shadowy textures through lush momentum. The result is a tonality of desolation akin to Cindy Lee, Beak>, and Anika. “I was born in a back room,” Warner sings on “Born,” the words taken from piles of lyric sheets written years ago.
Recorded in his home studio, Dead Halos features Warner on drums, bass, guitar, synth and vocals. Playing in bands for years, Warner has shared the stage with Unsane, Kid Congo Powers, Speedy Ortiz, Wovenhand, Martin Bisi, and A Place to Bury Strangers, among others. Dead Halos is the deep-seated fruition of Warner’s creative penchant to escape in order to thrive again. “I am a bad score / I’m going to wind up dead,” he sings on the EP’s driving track “Stranger.” With Dead Halos, Warner packs a punch in five indispensable songs. |
